El efecto post María ha amenazado con poner pausa indefinida a la producción artística del país. Sin embargo, las ayudas para el artista boricua siguen apareciendo. MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) está ofreciendo residencia de emergencia para los artistas de Puerto Rico afectados por el huracán, para la primavera - verano del 2018.
Los estudios de MASS MoCA invitan a los artistas de todo tipo de disciplinas, etapas de carrera, y niveles de ingreso —afectados actualmente viviendo en o fuera de Puerto Rico— a aplicar a estas residencias de hasta 6 semanas. Esperan seleccionar al menos 2 artistas de Puerto Rico. El costo regular se eliminará, y ayuda adicional para transportación y comida será provista.
La fecha límite de aplicación es: Diciembre 18, 2017, 11:59pm.
Costo: libre de costo.
En la página de aplicación dice que los artistas recibirán:
Estudio privado en atractivo espacio en el renovado campus de MASS MoCA, con generosa luz natural, 24 horas de acceso al estudio, pisos de madera plywood, una mesa de trabajo con silla, lavamanos, y baños compartidos.
Residencia al cruzar la calle, en apartamentos recién renovados (cuarto privado con cama queen + baño y cocina compartida). Apartamentos encantadores, pero nótese que es vivienda en comuna entre cuatro personas por apartamento en una locación activa en el downtown, como aviso a los de sueño sensitivo.
Reembolso por transportación aérea y de tierra, para salir o regresar a MASS MoCA, de hasta $800.
Una comida en comuna al día junto a los otros artistas en residencia. (También cuentan con voluntarios deseosos de proveer a los artistas participantes con comidas adicionales para alivianar los costos relacionados a la residencia)
Una ayuda adicional de $100 a la semana para ayudar a pagar por las comidas no incluidas en el plan de residencia o provista por los voluntarios.

Los artistas elegibles son: Pintores, Escultores, Artistas de Instalación, Escritores, Artistas de fibra, Creadores de Imprenta, presentantes de entretenimiento, diseñadores, fotógrafos, cineastas, etc… y ciertas reglas aplican.
El costo regular de esta residencia es de $650.00 por semana, y el mismo será removido para los artistas puertorriqueños seleccionados y se proveerá asistencia adicional para transportación y comidas.

FREE RESIDENCY EXCLUSIVELY FOR PUERTO RICAN ARTISTS
The post hurricane María effect has threatened with placing and indefinite pause to the artistic production of the country. However, aid for the Puerto Rican artist keeps on coming. MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) is offering emergency residency for Puerto Rican artists affected by the hurricane for Spring Summer 2018.
The Studios of MASS MoCA invite the affected artists from all disciplines, career stages, and income levels —currently in or out of the country— to apply for these residencies of up to 6 weeks. They expect to select at least 2 artists from Puerto Rico. The regular cost will be waived, and additional assistance to cover for transportation and food, will be provided.
Application deadline is: December 18, 2017, 11:59pm.
Fee: Free of charge.

A private studio in attractive space on MASS MoCA’s re-purposed mill campus, with generous natural light, 24-hour studio access, plywood floors, a work table and chair in each studio, and shared slop sinks and bathrooms.
Housing across the street from the museum, in newly renovated apartments (private bedroom/Queen bed + shared kitchen and bath). These are lovely apartments, but note that it’s communal living (4 people to an apartment) in an active downtown location -- sensitive sleepers be advised.
Reimbursement for airfare and ground transportation costs to/from MASS MoCA, up to $800.
One communal meal per day, in the company of other artists-in-residence. (We also have volunteers eager to provide the participating artists with additional meals to minimize any costs associated with the residency.)
A stipend of $100 per week to help pay for meals not included with the residency or provided by volunteers.
MASS MoCA member benefits for the duration of the residency, including free access to the museum’s galleries and discounts on performing arts events and museum store purchases.
Free access to Makers’ Mill, a printmaking and fiber arts makerspace on Main Street in North Adams (a short walk from the museum), offering shared use of relief press, etching presses, silkscreen and book arts equipment, as well as looms, sewing machines, small tools and work tables.
Optional one-on-one artist-focused financial and business coaching through the staff of MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists program (www.assetsforartists.org), helping artists and writers in all disciplines strengthen the business side of their artistic practice.
Eligible artists are: painters, sculptors, installation artists, writers, fibre artists, printmakers, performers, designers, photographers, filmmakers, etc… and certain rules apply.
The regular cost of this residency is of $650.00 per week, and it will be waived for the selected Puerto Rican artists, and additional assistance will be provided for food and transportation.
