La banda puertorriqueña Diente Perro, que se destaca en el género skate punk, se despide temporalmente del público para finalizar su tercera producción discográfica Dátela. El 1 de abril, la banda presentó en La Respuesta el primero de sus dos conciertos de despedida, Una serie de tributos. Además de tocar canciones originales como La luna y No jodas más, los integrantes homenajearon a algunos de los artistas que los inspiraron musicalmente: Bad Brains, David Bowie, Misfits, entre otros. En tarima, también se presentaron las bandas Los Ladrones y La Experiencia de Toñito Cabanilla$$$. El vocalista de Diente Perro, Ricky “Pelu” Vaughn, denominó el junte de las tres bandas como “la sangre del pasado, el presente, y el futuro”.
La presencia escénica de Vale Gunhead, vocalista de Los Ladrones, evidenció que la música de la banda se encuentra entre lo pesado y lo bailable. Los Ladrones, cuyo baterista Hommy Cabrera también pertenece a las bandas Anti-Sociales y Un Final Fatal, lanzó su primer EP El portal a principios de este año.
La Experiencia de Toñito Cabanilla$$$, la sangre del pasado, demostró que, después de casi 25 años, mantiene su estatus de institución indestructible en la escena de música independiente. Sus integrantes, próceres del punk rock boricua, mantuvieron la explosividad que los distingue desde su inicio al tocar temas como Guerra de todos contra todos, La pecera y Juventud acelerada.
Finalmente, a la 1 a.m., Diente Perro tomó la tarima. La banda, sólida y ponchada, tocó sobre 15 canciones con la energía y carisma que la define; cada canción fue ejecutada a la perfección. El público, cuya energía igualaba la de la banda, esperaba con ansias que Pelu le dirigiera el micrófono para gritar apasionadamente la letra de la canción, aunque no se la supiera. Durante su presentación, Diente Perro invitó a la vocalista Kianí Medina para interpretar Postcard, canción de la banda holandesa Shocking Blue. Luego, para homenajear a Ike y Tina Turner, Ilang-Ilang y Vale Gunhead se unieron a Medina y Diente Perro para cantar Idolize You. Definitivamente, quien buscaba divertirse con algunos de los mejores del punk boricua, salió satisfecho esa noche.
Diente Perro se presentará por última vez en la matiné de El Local, el 30 de abril. La banda invita a su fanaticada al concierto de despedida, en el que también se celebrará el cumpleaños de su bajista Luis “BZ Boy” Ocasio.

Diente Perro bids farewell
The Puerto Rican band Diente Perro (Dog Tooth), which excels in the skate punk genre, will temporarily bid farewell to its public in order to finish their third album Dátela (Take it). On April 1st, the band presented the first of its two farewell concerts, Una serie de tributos (A Series of Tributes) in La Respuesta. Beyond playing some of their original songs, like La luna (The Moon) and No jodas más (Stop fucking with me), the members of the band paid tribute to some of the artist that most inspired them musically: Bad Brains, David Bowie, Misfits, among others. The bands Los Ladrones (The Thieves) and La Experiencia de Toñito Cabanilla$$$ (Toñito Cabanilla$$$’s Experience) also made an appearance on stage. Diente Perro’s vocalist, Ricky "Pelu" Vaughn, called the meeting of the three bands "the blood of the past, present, and future".
The stage presence of Vale Gunhead, vocalist of Los Ladrones, made it clear that the band found balance between heavy yet danceable beats. Los Ladrones, whose drummer Hommy Cabrera is also a part of Anti-Sociales (Anti-socials) and Un Final Fatal (A Fatal End), released their first EP El Portal (The Portal) at the beginning of this year.
La Experiencia de Toñito Cabanilla$$$, the blood of the past, demonstrated that, after almost 25 years, it still maintains its indestructible institution status within the independent music scene. Heroes of Puerto Rico’s punk rock, its members maintained that same explosiveness which distinguished them right from the start, playing singles such as Guerra de todos contra todos (War of all againts all), La pecera (The Fishbowl), and Juventud acelerada (Accelerated Youth).
Finally, at 1AM, Diente Perro took the stage. In perfect synchronization, the band played about 15 songs with the same energy and charisma that defines it; each song was executed to perfection. The public, whose energy equaled that of the band, anxiously waited for Paul to direct the microphone towards them in order to passionately scream the song’s lyrics, even if they didn’t exactly know them. During their presentation, Diente Perro invited the vocalist Kianí Medina to interpret Postcard, a song by the Dutch band Shocking Blue. Afterwards, Ilang-Ilang and Vale Gunhead joined Medina and Diente Perro to sing Idolize You, a tribute to Ike &Tina Turner. That night, those who were wanted to have fun with some of the best Puerto Rican punk definitely left satisfied.
Diente Perro will make a last appearance on April 30th, in El Local’s Matiné. The band invited its fans to its farewell concert, where the birthday of Luis “BZ Boy” Ocasio, the bassist, will also be celebrated.
