El pasado jueves 21 de julio de 2016, la exhibición Aliens LV_426 fue llevada acabo en Espacio Minerva en Santurce. La exhibición tenía como temática celebrar los 30 años de la secuela la película Alien. La película de ciencia ficción del 1986 que fue dirigida por el cineasta James Cameron, conocido por sus películas taquilleras como ‘Terminator’, ‘Titanic’ y ‘Avatar’.
Espacio Minerva, local fue rehabilitado con el propósito de ofrecer un espacio multiusos, se ha dado a conocer por su integración a la comunidad santurcina y de la Isla. Caracterizándose por su propuesta innovadora de crear un espacio alternativo que cuenta con un programa cultural en beneficio a la comunidad, artístas, creativos y visitantes de Santurce.
La exhibición contó con la participación de alrededor de 40 artistas locales. Los cuales fueron invitados por el curador y también artista multifacético, Gerardo Cloquell. Quién, además de exponer su propia pieza, se dió a la tarea de crear una atmósfera espacial, llenando el espacio de música e imágenes de la película para acompañar las piezas creadas. Algunos de los artistas que podemos destacar lo son Ricardo Sánchez, Elizabeth Barreto, Karen Carrasquillo, Sergio Vázquez, Abner Cardona, Fisu, Son, Spear, Cena Collazo, Nepo, V de Vergara, Rey X, Boom One, Rosa Colón, Joey Rodríguez, entre otros.
Aliens LV_426 es la séptima exhibición curada por Cloquell y la segunda que lleva a cabo en el Espacio Minerva. El artista y curador del evento nos comenta que desde pequeño fue fan de la película Aliens, tanto por su dirección de arte, como por los monstruos. Lo que se convirtió en inspiración para su crecimiento artístico y para realizar este show colectivo que conmemora los 30 años de haber sido estrenada la película en Julio 18 del 1986. Hecho que dio luz verde a Cloquell para reunir a diferentes artistas y amigos con la mejor "excusa" para hacer tributo a la filmación y disfrutar cómo éstos interpretaban el filme en sus obras artísticas.
Luego de haber apreciado el espacio y cada una de las piezas, puedo decir que este tributo fue todo un éxito. Con una gama de interpretaciones sumamente variadas tanto en contenido como en los medios utilizados, encontraremos que el denominador común de cada una de estas piezas, además de la temática, es el talento y creatividad que refleja cada una.
Aliens LV_426, estará abierta al público hasta Agosto 4, 2016 de lunes a viernes de 11am hasta 5pm en Espacio Minerva, Ave. Ponce de León 1057.

'Aliens LV_426' Exhibition Conmemorates 30 Years Of Aliens - Curated by Gerardo Cloquell
The past thursday July 21 2016, the exhibition Aliens LV_426 took place at Espacio Minerva in Santurce in celebration of the 30 years of the saga films, Aliens. The sic-fi movie of 1986 that was directed by filmmaker James Cameron, known by his box-office films like 'Terminator', 'Titanic' and 'Avatar'.
The venue, a place that has been rehabilitated with the purpose of offering a multi use space, has come to be known for its integration to the Santurce and artistic community of the Island. Characterized by its innovative proposal of creating an alternative space, Espacio Minerva counts with a cultural program for the community, artists, creatives and Santurce visitors' benefit.
The exhibition counted with the participation of around 40 local artists. Whom were invited to be part of this collective show by the multidisciplinary artist and curator Gerardo Cloquell. Who, besides exposing a piece of his own for the exhibit, he took on the task of creating a spacial ambiance, filling the space with músic, images and video of the movie to join the created pieces. Some of the artists we can highlight are Ricardo Sánchez, Elizabeth Barreto, Karen Carrasquillo, Sergio Vázquez, Abner Cardona, Fisu, Son, Spear, Cena Collazo, Nepo, V de Vergara, Rey X, Boom One, Rosa Colón, Joey Rodríguez, among others.
Aliens LV_426 is the seventh exhibit curated by Cloquell and his second at Espacio Minerva. The artist and curator, tells us he has been a fan of Aliens since a little kid, as much as for the art direction as for the monsters. What later became his inspiration for his artistic growth and this collective show that commemorates the 30 years since the release in July 18 of 1986. Fact that gave Cloquell green light to gather different artists and friends with the best “excuse” to pay this tribute to the film and enjoy their interpretations.
After going through the space and each piece, I can say this tribute was a complete success. With a wide range of interpretations in content and used mediums, a thing you’ll find every piece has in common besides the theme, is the fact that every single one of them is filled with great talent and creativity.
Aliens LV_426, will be open for the public until August 4, 2016 from mondays to fridays from 11am to 5pm at Espacio Minerva, Ponce de León Avenue 1057.
